Abstract:
The development of thin film magnetic recording heads made possible the disk drive industry’s continuing evolution to higher recording densities and drives with higher capacities. Panel members participated in the key development activities, mostly by IBM, in various laboratories, which eventually resulted in the MR and GMR heads used throughout the disk drive industry.
